When I worked at Macy's way back in the day, I fell in love with this baby pink Kitchenaid mixer. It was soooo expensive at $250. But, before I quit there I splurged and bought it.
Well, that brings us to this week. I got out my pink mixer and started using it and oil startes spewing all over. I called Kitchenaid who told me to call a repair shop in Seattle. I did. But they want $40 just to look at it and they won't call me unless the parts go over $80...so I'm easily in it $120 to have it fixed.
I decided to just hunt for a good deal on a new one.
Then came craigslist. I found one on there, brand new in the box for just over $100...which is $100 below retail. We bought it. But, once I got home and got it out of the box we realized that it was a 4.5 quart, not a 5 quart...and it only came with the flat beater, not the whisk and dough hook too. I was a little disappointed, but a mixer is better then no mixer. It still had the Sears tape across it, so I decided to take it back to Sears and see if I could upgrade it to the next model.
The Puyallup Sears didn't have the next model, but they gave me a gift card for over $230.00!!! We headed to Tacoma Mall to see what they had.
Tacoma had the mixer I wanted...on sale for $299. We decided to get it. Then I noticed this rebate they had going on...it was a mail in rebate through Kitchenaid for a free attachement valued at $65. I was excited!
On the way to the register I read the rebate and saw that this rebate had expired on the 8th...and here it was the 11th. Russell told me not to worry about it...I said I was going to talk to a manager. They had this HUGE display up advertising the rebate...and a zillion rebate forms!!!
The manger came up, I explained to her the display and asked if she could give me my free attachment since Kitchenaid wouldn't honor it now and their store still had this huge display. Her response "Well, we don't carry the attachments. But, how about if I take $65 off of the price of your mixer?" AWESOME! I was so excited. So after using my gift card, I had to pay a whopping $5!!!!
I love when I get good bargains. My husband hates when I ask for them...but I've saved a lot of money that way!
Terry said if we ever buy a new car...I better be there to haggle with them!
