Admitted & Orientated

Russell had his New Student Admission & Orientation meeting at UW.  They bombard you with tons of information...some worthwhile, some useless.

Instead of driving, he decided to take the train/bus up to Seattle.  When you are a student at UW, for $99 a quarter you can get a U-Pass that gives you free public transportation in all the local counties.  That is SO much cheaper then paying for gas and parking at the school, plus there's no traffic to sit in!  The only downer is that is only runs during the peak commute times, 6am to 8am and 3pm to 7pm.  So, even if his classes don't start until later, he still has to catch the train by 8am.  But the high point is that no matter what, he will have some time to go sit in the library and study.

He went to get registered and found out that all the classes he needs are full!  Of course.  But, through a few emails I got him into the Chemistry class he needs.  Now we are just waiting for the 21st to see if he can get his math.  He needs the 2nd class in a series of 3.  Grades post on the 21st, so we're hoping that students don't pass the 1st class so they can't take the 2nd.  I know that sounds bad...but it's the way school works!

Classes start January 3rd!  It's coming fast!  I'm getting a little nervous....just because so much is changing!  I know we have all our ducks in a row...but it's still nerve wracking...that won't change until we are in the thick of it and I know we are okay!

On a good note...Russell's current job decided to keep him on the payroll as an on-call employee.  This means that with the relationships he has built with his co-workers, they are able to throw him work that he can do on the weekends.  This is huge for us!  It's such a blessing...hopefully it all works out and he can work full weekends and still have the week days to be home with the kids, which will be an even more incredible blessing when my school starts in July!
