Apple Daze

Where we live in Oregon, we are surrounded by farms of many kinds.  In Harrisburg, about an hour from us, is Detering Orchards.  The first weekend of October they do a big event called Apple Daze.  The orchard has hay rides, a corn maze, a hay maze, panning for treasure, free apple cider, and we even got to meet Miss Eugene Pro Rodeo Queen!  :-)  The orchard, obviously, has acres and acres of apple trees...and the kids were begging me to go apple picking...so we did!

They also had baby cows you could feed...if you can call them babies.  They were huge cows!  We bought apples ($2 for 18) to feed the cows.  Emily was scared...she cried everytime a cow mooed.  Hallie, Nathan & I had an absolute blast feeding the cows.  Their big old purple tongues, spit, mooing, 'googly' eyes as Hallie said, and them wanting their apples made for so much fun.  Who would have thought feeding cows apples would have been such fun!?!?!
