Hmmm...so much to think about lately. Russell is in the midst of his summer quarter....Pre-Calculus, Chemistry and Microbiology...not easy in the least. The plan has always been for him to go to nursing school to get his RN and then probably head to Med school. We had a chat this weekend. Why should he spend all the time and effort and the money to go to nursing school if it's not really what he wants to do? Why not just shoot for the moon to begin with?
After looking over his previous classes we discovered that he could be done with Pierce in December and head to UW in January. On that path, it cuts 2 years off of the path that includes nursing school. It's just so much to think about. A lot of people tell him to go for it....and a lot of people think he's too old to go to med school. My opinion: you are never too old to reach a dream. And, if its what he really wants to do and it will make him happy, then I am 100% behind him. Not to say that it will be an easy road, because it's far from easy! But it looks like our roller coaster of life is heading in that direction! He can apply to UW this week...and then we'll go from there. But he's already met with an advisor, so he knows where he stands from there. He'll have 2 years and 1 quarter at UW and then can go to Med School. We're hoping he can get into the Medical School at UW, but if not we'll end up somewhere! But, that's all temporary. Who knows what life might bring! So now, it's preparing like crazy! Being sure we have everything paid off and ducks in a row. In order for him to go to UW full time, he'll have to quit his job....so it's a lot to prepare for! We'll see! Worst case...he'll head to UW in March instead of January!
On a side note: Russell made the President's List for spring quarter. In order to get on that list you have to have a 3.9 average in all your classes! He had a 4.0! I'm so proud of him!
