....That takes on a whole new meaning.
Last night we were at Terry's house, and Nathan found a bottle of Pledge on the table. Of course, being 14 months old, he picked it up. Before I could get to him fast enough, he had put the nozzle in his mouth and sprayed. I freaked out. His mouth had the lovely lemony fragrance of Pledge. So I packed him up and came home. He was acting fine, and it wasn't like he swallowed the whole bottle. But I was still kind of freaking out inside, especially since it was 8pm and I was getting ready to put him to bed. So I called poison control.
Of course, the lady freaked me out about 'hydrocarbons' and a whole bunch of other mumbo jumbo....she told me I had to give him a little milk and keep him up until 9pm....and keep him sitting upright until then. UPRIGHT....his bed time is normally 7:30pm...and I'm supposed to keep my tired 14 month old from rolling around on the floor....yeah right. I'd be lucky to keep Hallie upright for an hour! So we tried....somewhat successful. Then, poison control told me to call them back at 9...so I did...and of course Nathan was fine....but then she freaked me out again because she said I had to call back at midnight. So I put Nathan to bed...paranoyed. And I got up at midnight to check on him and call them back. I did and she told me 'he should be fine, we were just being overly cautious.'
Why....why...do kids think they need to eat gross things...I mean seriously...the Pledge could not have possibly tasted good! Nathan is 14 months old...and I've already called poison control regarding him more then I ever have for Hallie....and she's 3 1/2! Boys!
