Some People Suck.

So....our wedding photographer that we loved turned out to be useless. She had some legal issues earlier in the year but assured us...BEFORE we paid her...that all was well and she'd be able to fufill her obligations to us. So we gave her a check for $1400. A few weeks ago I had some questions about timing and scheduling and stuff so I left a voice mail. I continued to try calling and emailing and as I got no response I started to worry...again. Literally 3 weeks went by and me and 2 other people that were clients of her's hadn't heard anything either. Finally, I'd just had it and decided we were going to cancel with her and find another photographer. I wanted someone reliable and able to do the job. My photographs are what was MOST important to me. So we've been sending her emails and voicemails. Finally, Thursday she called me and said she would call me Friday morning to let me know when I would be getting the money. No call...no surprise. So we sent her an email and left a voice mail stating we wanted our money and were cancelling our services. Still no response. She texted me at 3am one day....just cowardly. She can text but won't call me. Yes, I'm mad, frustrated, irritated, stressed...but yelling gets us no where...I just wanted to talk to her and get this all straightened out and get my money back. Finally last night I got a email saying she's spent all our money..has no money to give us...and will try to pay us back piece by piece. Well that's really not good enough. Our wedding is in less then 5 weeks and we have to find another photographer while she has long spent our $1400. That money was a retainer...not for a shopping spree. Her email was all about her custody issues....but really...that doesn't matter to me. I'm a compassionate person...but at the same time..this is our wedding...and having no photographer doesn't work for me. At this point, I don't care why or how she spent our money...I just want it back...which doesn't look like it's going to happen anytime soon. Luckily, we've found another photographer that's really good and reasonably priced. But that still doesn't take away the sting of pretty much being robbed of $1400 dollars. Some people suck.
